The Taggle ear tag allows your livestock to be tracked economically on a web-based map. Boundaries can be drawn on the map and SMS alerts sent to you if any taggles go outside the boundary. A typical rural installation provides coverage of greater than 7km radius (>150sq km). Taggles can also be used to track other farm assets, such as tools and equipment, and can be used to detect open gates and stock water levels. The taggle is waterproof, rugged and weighs under 20 grams. A standard NLIS applicator is used to insert the tag on livestock. | ![]() |
How it works

Each taggle 'pings' to the base-station network at pre-programmed intervals, typically several minutes apart. The base stations (minimum 3) can handle transmissions from thousands of taggles concurrently, even if the 'ping' time is identical. The base-stations transmit the time of arrival to a server where the location is calculated, and then the data is distributed to the device owner using a simple web-services interface. Your data is protected from viewing by any outside source, and even neighbours who may share base stations can only access the data from their own assets. |
Reduce Livestock Theft and WanderingLivestock losses due to theft in some areas may be as high as 5 - 10% per year. Now you can be notified as soon as movement is detected outside of specified boundaries. Continuous tracking can reduce mustering losses. Although unmustered animals will probably be found on subsequent musterings they may have missed vaccinations or sales that translate into productivity losses. Animal HealthRegular movement is a good indicator of animal health, especially when the animal moves with the herd. Early detection of health problems could save 1 - 2% of the herd. Pasture ManagementHighly grazed areas will be highlighted, allowing pasture improvements to be targeted at areas that need it. Precision application of inputs is being widely used in cropping where harvesters can produce yield maps and taggles will allow the same benefits for livestock farming.
